Project Description

The Centre des métiers du cuir de Montréal (CMCM) will exhibit the works of its graduates and students at the DEC en métiers d’art – Maroquinerie at the Musée des Maîtres et Artisans du Québec. You are invited to the opening on Wednesday 30 May 2018 at 6 pm.

There’s no point in running; you have to start on time.

Jean de La Fontaine inspired our 2018 graduates in their group cohesion and positive attitude. We present them to you:

Tlacaelel Aquino Luna│Frédérique Auclair│Noémie Clarke-Jacques

Isabelle Gagnon│Élise Ricard-Piché│Deborah Sage

To succeed 3 years of training, to tame the matter and to integrate the techniques is not an easy task and the last session is a true tour de force. It represents 3 program summaries. So slowly, but surely, our graduates got down to work. For the Design of a collection, their creative engine was fuelled by their personal interests: human mobility, role playing, accessories for men, burlesque, equestrian accessories and travel. For the Synthèse de maroquinerie, with the complicity of Claire Nadon (designer-costumièremaroquinière), a special project was born. From a futuristic and imaginary web series, they developed accessories for different archetypal characters. Finally, in Sheathing Synthesis, they had to create a box to present and protect a specific collection. Be adventurous and discover what’s in these treasure chests! The competence of our teachers, master craftsmen and the complicity of our allies in fashion and design, give our graduates and all our students the opportunity to surpass themselves and present pieces where modernity and originality meet usual and daily.

The 3 M’s of Leather Goods: Material – Hand – Trade

Leather, handmade work, machine quilting and sheathing define the leather goods trade in Quebec. The CMCM is mandated by the Cégep du Vieux Montréal to provide technical training for the Diplôme d’études collégiales en métiers d’art – Maroquinerie.
