FROM MASTERS' HANDS

Visit our permanent exhibition featuring both minor and major works of traditional artisans from Quebec that constitute the everyday lives of French Canadians in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.

Groups in arts and crafts
You have a specific interest? Textiles, ceramic, wood sculpture… Artifacts rarely presented to the public can exceptionally be taken out of the reserve upon request from your group.

Groups of elders
An interactive tour with dynamic animators offers participants a voyage through time. Visitors benefit from an elevator leading to the exhibition and benches to rest during the tour.

Groups with reduced mobility
This interactive tour offers participants with reduced mobility a personalized animation with one animator per 5 visitors. A docking platform leads directly into the exhibition.

TRADITIONS OF QUEBEC

Discover the major events of Quebec's history in a 19th century building and explore French Canadian traditions through the objects of the collection.

This interactive tour which integrates a linguistic activity on Quebec expressions is specially designed for adults learning French at an intermediate or advanced level.

ARCHITECTURAL EXCURSION

Discover the architecture of a 19th century church at the heart of Quebec's historical changes. This exploration of Neogothic architecture focuses on unique elements and surprising details related to the history of the building.

This specialized tour offers students in architecture and art history remarkable examples of design, sculpture and iconography. They have the opportunity to handle material samples and get a sneak peek inside the organ normally closed to the public.

THE TRADE OF THE CARPENTER
FROM NEW-FRANCE TO THE INDUSTRIAL ERA

Discover the history and know-how of master carpenters and carvers through antique French Canadian furniture and sculptures. This tour focuses on the apprenticeship, practice and evolution of the trade.

It offers students in cabinetmaking a privileged contact with the museum’s furniture collection. On such occasions, doors and drawers can exceptionally be opened. Students also have the opportunity to handle antique tools with a curator’s gloves. A short film on conservation completes the tour.

BEHIND CLOSED DOORS 

The mission of the Musée des maîtres et artisans du Québec is to promote Quebec's cultural heritage, including the traditional arts and crafts of yesterday, and those of today. 

Take a V.I.P tour of teh Museum in the company of the director-curator, the assistant to exhibitions or the supervisor of education to discover the inner workings of this dynamic and innovative institution. This customized tour is offered in exclusivity to students and professionals in museology.
